First day of Hogwarts

Lily Brighton makes her way into the dorm, thinking it was the girls, her mind wandering to everything she recently learned in the first few hours here at Hogwarts. Robes, check. Sorted, check. It was all new to her. As a muggle-born, the atmosphere was completely different than what she was used to. A gasp escapes her lips as she takes in her surroundings. There were so many things that she was going to have to learn about the wizarding world. Lily smiles as walks around the place, looking at everything she possibly can.

Meanwhile, another Ravenclaw, Logan Miyamizu looks up at the ceiling, entirely mesmerized by everything going on. Her first hours in Hogwarts were nothing like she expected--in the best way. Everything was more magical than any description anyone on her father's side could have given her. Her eyes dart across the hallway as she was herded off to her common room. Combined with the bustling crowd around her and her excitement bubbling within her chest, Logan feels content. This where she's supposed to be. She spaces out, lost in thought, as she continues to follow the group of peers surrounding her, eyes wide. She's broken out of her trance, however, when she's bumped into. "Sorry!" she exclaims. Her eyes widen even further when she realizes she's surrounded by all boys. "Where am I?" she mutters to herself, before the idea clicks--the boy's dorm? Where'd her prefect go? She needed to find her and sort this out. This isn't where she's supposed to be at all.

Lily gasps out in shock when she turns around and realizes that she was in the wrong dorm. How did this happen? How did she get so lost in her thoughts that she let herself be carried to the wrong place? "Oh, Lily...you're so dumb." Her hand goes up to her forehead and she rubs it softly. She lets out a sigh as she looks around. It seems as none of the boys notice her, so maybe she is able to sneak out without being caught. Lily takes a few steps forward before she realizes she wasn't the only girl in the room. A smile spreads across her face as her legs quickly take her to the other female. Normally she was extremely shy around her people. She didn't have many friends. But seeing someone in the same situation as her made her feel a little more comfortable. Lily grabs onto the strangers arm and pleads. "Please! We need a plan to get out of here!" She practically begs, hoping the other girls can help her come up with a plan.

Logan tenses defensively as she feels someone touch her, ready to smack whatever boy felt worthy of putting their hands on her. When she sees it came from another girl, however, she relaxes noticeably. She tilts her head at the girl's voice, noting that it's laced with desperation, as if she was... scared, maybe? She giggles at the siutation they're in, definitely glad that she wasn't alone. It was a heck of an opportunity for an introduction, though. "We'll get out of here, don't worry." A smirk spreads across her face as she scans the crowd. "Stay here,"  she orders. "I'll be right back." With that, she squeezes her new acquaintance's arm and disappears into the crowd of testosterone.

Lily looks up at the slightly taller girl and nods sternly. She bites her lip as she watches the girl leave her alone. Lily backs up a few feet until she was against the wall. This was so no one would be able to sneak up on her. She takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Stressful situations like this weren't good her well-being. Her mind starts to race. Is she going to get kicked out on her first day? Is she going to get detention for accidentally being here? Her eyes meet with a boy's, and she quickly tries to look away. She bites her lip harder, to the point of bleeding, as she hears one of them whistle. Her face turns bright red, and her gaze meets the floor. Meeting the other girl helped Lily's nerves calm down. She relaxes for a few moments before she hears another whistle. Then she bites her lip harder and becomes even more embarrassed as she feels tears sting her eyes.

The other girl, meanwhile, chuckles to herself, feeling rather devious. She wasn't really planning on causing any trouble on the first day, but this seemed like a rather dire situation, one that she'd much rather not be in. Her fingers curl around something deep in the pocket of her robes. Something her father had purchased for her in Diagon Alley to use if she needed to escape or if she was feeling particularly rambunctious. Turns out, in this moment, it was both, so once she's in the middle of the room, she pulls out the object and activates it, causing a dark smokescreen to spread throughout the room. She weaves her way through all of the unsuspecting boys, hearing them gasp and complain due to the thick smoke surrounding them, as she makes her way back to the other girl. Luckily, she could make out her long, blonde hair, even with the spreading smoke. "This way!" she yells loudly, so she could hear her over the commotion, grabbing her hand and starting to run to the exit.

Lily blinks a few times as she sees the smoke begin to fill the room. How on earth did the girl get that? And what on earth is it? Lily made a note to ask the girl when they were in the clear. She waits a few more seconds before she feels the girl's hand in her own. She sniffles a few times, still feeling like she was going to cry as she runs towards the exit with the other. Lily was probably going to be the laughingstock of the boys for the rest of their years here, and it was only the first day. 'Oh look, there's the girl that got stuck in the boys dorm and cried about it', they would say, inevitably. The girl shook her head and continued to follow the other out of the room full of disgusting boys.

Logan coughs as she exits the disaster of the boys' dorm, the combination of synthetic smoke and not being able to catch her breath from running making it difficult to breathe. She hunches over, putting her hands on her knees, as she takes slow, labored breaths. Merlin, it was only her first night and she was already having a blast! Once she can breathe normally again, she stands up straight and erupts into a fit of giggles. She looks at the girl in front of her between the tears of her laughter, who probably thought she was absolutely insane. "You okay?" Her laughter ceases, and she tilts her head curiously towards the girl, hoping she hasn't scared her away. She would like a friend here, after all.

Lily nods slowly as she's still trying to process what in Merlin's beard just happened back there. She tries to find her voice, but nothing comes out. All Lily was able to do is stare at the girl that caused all the commotion. Why was the girl laughing? Was this what Hogwarts was supposed to be like? Lily takes a few deep breaths before being able to say words. "W...what on earth did you do?" Her voice was soft, high pitched. She was still in awe. She was still on the verge of tears from embarrassment.

Logan stuffs her hands in the pockets of her robe, somewhat embarrassed. Her mom always told her she could be a bit much, which was why she didn't have any friends back home. She was hoping that would change here, since she would be surrounded by people like her. "Ahh..." She smirks down at the floor, not able to contain herself. "It's called Peruvian instant darkness powder! They sell it in Diagon Alley, and my dad bought it for me." She beams happily. She took after her father, almost in every aspect personality-wise. She looks up at the girl and looks right back to the floor, hoping she didn't screw up with this person. She seemed nice enough, after all, to maybe become friends with.

Lily blinks a few times. Peruvian...what? She shakes her head a few times. "I..I dont know what that means..." Lily knows that she was definitely making herself seem like a muggleborn, which she was, but that was beside the point. She didnt really study about Hogwarts or magic before getting her letter. Back home, she didn't have many friends. When she told the few that she had about the letter, they all laughed and made fun of her. Lily wanted to make a change here. Maybe this girl would be able to help her with that. She took a deep breath and spoke louder, hoping she seemed more confident than she did before. Pushing everything that just happened aside, she decided to introduce herself. "I...I'm Lily.." The girl says softly, cracking a small smile. The other girl's laughter was contagious.

Logan raises an eyebrow at the other girl, before scrunching her nose. Didn't know about one of the best pranks of the wizarding world...? Huh. A grin breaks out across her face as the girl, well, Lily, introduces herself. Maybe she didn't scare her away after all. She bounces closer to the blonde, before pointing to herself with her thumb proudly. "My name's Logan Miyamizu! You can call me Logan, or Lo!" She offers the girl a smile, even though she didn't understand how she didn't know about something as simple as the powder. "If you don't know what it is, I can teach you!" She puts her hand down and puts her hands on her hips. "Don't worry about that!"

Lily feels her eyes go wide and the other girl begins to get excited. Lily isn't one to get happy about meeting someone else. But it would be nice to have one friend during her time here at Hogwarts. She blushes, feeling stupid for not knowing much. Knowing that she'll have someone to help her learn everything has made her relax. A smile spread across Lily's face as she watches Logan. She just seems like a happy person. It's the kind of person that Lily needed. "Thank you!" Lily says happily. "Lo! I like that. You can call me whatever you want! I went by Lil back home. Or Lilybelle to my family."

As Logan listens intently to the girl in front of her, her mind starts to race with the possibilities of what it would be like to have a friend in general. Would they go on crazy adventures? Or would they just study mindlessly? They were in Ravenclaw, after all. She decides that, even though she doesn't particularly like studying the subjects they taught in muggle school, she wouldn't mind having a study buddy, as long as they could do something fun at other times, too. "Lil! That's what I'll call you." She feels slightly unoriginal for calling her one of her previous nicknames, but that's all she could think of that wouldn't sound absolutely ridiculous or overly endearing. She really didn't want to scare off this girl. For some reason, she felt like maybe it was fate that they both ended up in the boy's dorm together. Maybe that was a stretch, but she was curious how her new acquaintance ended up in there alongside her. "So, the  boy's dorm, huh?" A wicked grin spreads across her face. "How'd you end up in there?"

Lily chuckles softly, wishing that she had a cool story to tell Logan about how she ended up in the boys dorm. But sadly, she didn't. Llily takes a deep breath and begins to tell the girl how. "Well, after the sorting, I got lost in my thoughts about everything I saw. It's all new to me. I am what my family calls...muggle-born?" she explains softly, obviously not really knowing what the word means. This was the first time she was talking about it. Her parents made it very clear not to tell anyone, especially those from Slytherin. But there as something about Lo that Lily trusted. "Everything is so new to me! But anyway...I got pushed into the dorm with the crowd. It's kind of silly now that I think about it. I could have avoided it if I was actually paying attention to it all," the girl says, clearly embarrassed.

Oh. The girl was a muggleborn. Now it made sense why she didn't know what her impromptu smokescreen was. She nods along while she listens to Lily's explanation. "My mom's a muggle," she felt compelled to say, wanting to try and make the girl feel more comfortable around her. She knows that some people discriminate against muggleborns, but she could never understand why. If they had magical tendencies too, why did it even matter where they came from? In her mind, it didn't. A dreamy sigh escapes her lips, and she says, "Isn't it all just more magical than your wildest dreams?" Logan didn't think it was silly at all how Lily ended up in the wrong dormitory. After all, that's how she got there, too.

Lily smiles at Logan's words. Her mother was muggle too. So surely she knew about muggle things just like herself, right? She'll have to ask later. At least having muggle parents wasn't something out of the ordinary. Both of Lily's parents didn't know magic, so it was going to take Lily longer than most to understand things about the wizarding world. She just wasn't exposed to it like Logan, or others, who had at least one magic parent. The girl nodded. "There is so much...its...magical." She begins to giggle at her own stupid joke. A hand goes up to her mouth, trying to contain the full on laughter that was trying to escape.

Logan snorts at the joke before giggling along with the other girl. It was a tacky joke at best, but it seemed to break the awkwardness between them, and for that, Logan was entirely grateful.  "Well, it's Hogwarts!" she retorts back playfully. "If it wasn't magical, it'd be no better than," a disgusted look tarnishes her face, the corners of her mouth turning down into a frown, "muggle school." She really did despise everything about the schooling her mother insisted she went through before attending Hogwarts, telling all of her classmates that she had to transfer somewhere else, more suited for her situation. She was mocked the whole rest of the day, saying she had to go to a special school for weirdos. Well, they actually used a more colorful word, but Logan blocked it out from both her mind and vocabulary.

Lily nods, feeling more at ease around Logan. "I like Hogwarts so far." Lily says confidently. She notices the distaste that Logan has towards muggle school. She wonders what causes that kind of dislike for something. Unlike Logan, Lily actually liked muggle school. She was good at it. Studying...the only thing she ever did. Lily didn't have any friends back at home so there was no one to tell that she was going away. "Muggle school wasn't so bad..." She stated simply, sadly. If she was good at muggle things, does that mean she would be good at magic too. With Logan's help, there was no way she was going to fail. They could help each other.

The other girl shakes her head rapidly. "Muggle school was awful. I wish I'd never gone." Logan stops there, even though she wants to tell Lily all about her experiences there in hopes that she'd understand what she went through too. But she doesn't want to scare her away, so she ceases any further elaboration on the topic. "Hey," she says, realizing just how quiet it was in the room around them, "should we try and find our dormitory or are we sleeping on the common room couch tonight?" Looking around and actually taking in the sight of the common room, she decides she actually wouldn't mind sleeping in the common room at all. The room was incredible.

Lily gives Logan a small smile. "Well, I'll teach you all the good things about muggle school." She says softly, in hopes of making Lo feel more comfortable. Lily took Logans lead and began to look around the room. It was amazing, but too silent. After a few minutes, lily looks back to logan and nods. "I think we should go find our dormitory." The girl answers and reaches out for Logan's hand. "Though, the couch does look fairly comfortable, I would prefer to go and put my things away and see where we are going to be living. Ready?"

Logan nods and takes the girl's hand. She's curious to meet the other people she'll be living with for the next seven years, assuming that Lily would be one of her dormmates. “Ready."

After traveling up the winding stone staircase, Logan is brought face to face with her dormitory. She looks around, caught up in the magic of it all. The four poster bed looked much more comfortable and luxurious than her bed at home. "I understand house pride and all," she mutters under her breath, "But why does everything have to be blue?" Shrugging, she flops on the bed her luggage is in front of, sighing. "Oh. Merlin!" she squeals loudly. "This is the most comfortable thing ever." She rolls around a bit, forgetting that she was in someone else's presence.

Lily leans over, resting her hands on her knees, obviously out of breath. She was never the most athletic person. Her hand goes up and she wipes her forehead dramatically. "Goodness gracious... Those stairs..." She pants out. After she cataches her breath, Lily makes her way over to her own bed, which was next to Logans. Lo was right, it's too much blue. Thank goodness she has some muggle things with her that would help with that. Lily giggles when she turns around and sees Logan rolling around her bed. She leans against her bed frame with her arms crossed, obviously amused by Logan. "Are you having fun...?"

Logan lets out a noise that one could even call demonic. "Yesssss." She doesn't even care that she was acting like a fool in front of someone at this point. Sleeping in this bed for the duration of the school year would make up for it. She sits up after a while, and locks eyes with Lily. "This bed is better than a cloud. Or a bed of roses." Her eyes scan the rest of the room before she realizes that she has a lot more roommates than she accounted for. Five people, including her. She feels uneasy, hoping that she doesn't come off the wrong way to any of the other girls. "They're already unpacked!" The room looked much more cluttered, more homey on the opposite side of the dorm compared to Logan and Lily's side. She wonders how much time the two lost getting lost in the commotion earlier. It couldn't have been that long, could it?

Lily arches an eyebrow and snorts. What had lily gotten herself into when she decided to be friends with Logan. "Er...I hope it's more comfortable than a bed of roses.." Wouldn't they be super thorny? Lily laughed a little louder and decides to sit on her own bed. "Oohh but you're right. It's amazing." She flops back and lets out a squeak of excitement. "I think we should help each other unpack. It'll go by faster." She mumbles to Logan after realizing that they were the only ones that weren't unpacked yet.

Laughing at Lily's rose comment, Logan rolls her eyes. "Now I know why you're in Ravenclaw." She, herself, doesn't understand why she was placed in this house, seeing as she wasn't particularly fond of studying or school before. Maybe it would be different at Hogwarts, though. Nodding, she pushes herself up off the bed with a sigh. She wanted to just lay there forever, but they had things to do.  "I mean, I was just going to dump everything on my bed so it forced me to do it later, but your plan sounds better." She flips open her trunk and opens it, waving Lily over to her things.

Lily rolls her eyes at Logans laugh. Surely she wasn't that funny? After a few moments, Lily gets up and hops over to Logans bed. "I'm not going to be living in a mess." She chuckles and goes over to Lo's trunk. The girl begins to take over Logans robes and take them over to the place where they are going to be hung. She takes the hangers off of the hook and placed them back on the nook. Then she turns back to Lo and takes a few nic-nacs out of the trunk and sets them on her side table. There were a few things that she didn't know where to put. It was difficult sorting through it all since it looks like a tornado made its way into her friend's trunk.

Logan ties back her long, black hair into a ponytail before she starts to dig into her trunk. She was extremely grateful that Lily was helping her unpack and vice versa. Otherwise it would take her longer than a week to finish. Especially with her lack of organizational skills. She puts a box of trinkets underneath her bed as Lily tends to her clothes, and spreads out the quilt her mother made her onto her bed. Surprisingly, unpacking didn't take that long, but she didn't bring that much with her in the first place. "Okay, on to yours?"

Nodding sternly, Lily smiles at the quilt. She goes over to it and rubs the material. "This is so cute." Lily says softly before going over and kneeling infront of her trunk. When she opens it, a groan escapes her lips because it was no longer organized. During her move to Hogwarts, everything got tossled around. She pouts and stands up. "Just great." She mumbles and she pulls  out her robes. "There are a few books in there, can you put them on the shelf my side table?" Lil asks Lo as she makes her way over to the hook to hang her robes so they didn't wrinkle.

Logan beams at the comment. "Thanks! I can't sleep without it," she admits before she can control what she's saying. She scrunches her eyes. Why did she say that? Out of everything she could've said? Her mother was right. She was most definitely too, too much. She salutes Lily affirmatively, saying, "Roger!" as she scoops out the books from the trunk and moves them to where Lily directed her to. She straightens them, making sure they were as tidy and organized as possible for her new dormmate. Going back to the trunk, she peers into the trunk to see if there is anything else she can help with. She mindlessly starts folding socks.

Lily smiles as she sees Logan make the books as tidy as possible. It made her happy knowing her friend knew she liked things tidy already. Lily hangs a few pictures of her and her parents behind her bed before going back to the trunk. She giggles as she sees Logan playing with her socks. Those were the one thing that lily didn't care about. They could be shoved into the bottom of a drawer and she wouldn't care. What a rebel. She reaches down and pulls out a small stuffed bunny. Lil pulls it into her chest and begins to hug it as she sits on the edge of her bed.

After putting the socks she folded up into the drawer, she sighs. That went by much faster than expected, but she was still tired. Upon seeing Lily's stuffed animal, she crouches down in front of the bed and grins up to Lily. "Who's this little one?" Scrambling over to the box she hid under her bed, she opens it and pulls out a stuffed Antipodean Opaleye that was about same size as Lily's toy. She was scared she was going to be made fun of by her peers if she had her stuffed animal out, but upon seeing Lily and hers, the fear dissipated. Gently waving the stuffed dragon in front of Lily, she exclaims, "I have one too! This is Opal."

Lily looks down at Logan and blushes. She forgot for a minute that she wasn’t alone. Her grandmother gave the bunny to her right before she passed away when she was just a baby. Lily had slept with it ever since. ”This is Bunbun.” She tells Logan softly before holding her out so lo can see her fully. Lily didn’t care if she got made fun of for the animal. It was a part of who she was. It was a memory of her life before magic. Lily smiles widely at the dragon. ”Hello, Opal," she says proudly.

Logan grins toothily as she squeezes Opal to her chest. "Hi Bunbun! I'm Logan, Lily's new friend." Hopefully they would be friends, anyway. All she really wanted was a friend. She lifts Opal up to her ear, and after a few moments, nods and places her back into her lap. "Opal says she hopes you and her can be friends, Bunbun." She gives her stuffed dragon one last squeeze before setting her in the middle of her pillows at the top of her bed.
